As we head into winter and the mornings start to chill we see the movement of Snapper into Hervey Bay. Finally the winds of the summer have settled and a more stable pattern of light south easterly winds of winter should allow more opportunities to get onto the water.

In addition the Winter Whiting are starting to school up in the Great Sandy Strait and it looks like being a great season after the disappointment of last year.

The usual suspects such as Bream, Flathead and Golden Trevally are still in good numbers around Hervey Bay.

The best part about the fishing in Hervey bay is if the weather is not at its usual best there are plenty of other options. The Mary and Susan River offer great protection from the weather but are in no way a down grade in fishing. Jew fish, mackerel, cod, finger mark, mangrove jack, flathead, mud crab and the delicious prawns, just to name a few, allow fishing in Hervey Bay achievable in all weather conditions.
